Hello from Wild and Weeds!

I am still buzzing from the incredible foraging walk we had on July 5th in East Cumbria. I have to admit, I was so caught up in the excitement of all the incredible plants we were finding that I completely forgot to put on my waterproof jacket! A little rain never hurt anyone, and it certainly didn’t dampen our spirits.

Escaping the Rain and Finding Joy

We started the day with a bit of a tease from the weather. The sun was shining as we all gathered, and it seemed like we might just escape the forecast. The atmosphere was absolutely wonderful, with a group of people who were all so eager to learn and connect with each other. I love how these walks bring together people with a similar passion for nature and community. We shared stories and laughter while learning to identify and ethically harvest wild plants.

Of course, the rain eventually decided to join us, but by then we were all so focused on the incredible discoveries around us that it barely mattered. As we delved deeper into the area, we found some amazing wild foods, and the rain added a magical, glistening layer to the leaves and flowers.

What I love most is the way these walks feel like a true adventure—a chance to slow down, be present, and simply be with the earth. It’s a reminder that true well-being is found in our connection to nature and to each other.

Even though I got a bit wet, the day was a beautiful reminder of the joy that comes from connecting with the natural world. If you’re looking for a way to feel more grounded, empowered, and part of a supportive community, I would love for you to join us on an upcoming walk!
