I don’t think that has to be the rule. This autumn\, join me for an afternoon exploring the fungi hiding through the woodland at Langley Tracks: their favourite spots\, the features that tell one species from another\, and even their medicinal properties. Then we’ll take everything we’ve found to the campfire\, cook it up\, and sit down to a wild\, seasonal feast together. \nThis one’s built for beginners and for anyone wanting to build on mushroom knowledge they already have. You’ll get up close with real specimens so you leave able to identify safely\, not just admire from a distance. \nWhat You’ll Learn\n\nHow to identify common woodland fungi safely\, including the toxic look-alikes to know and avoid\nWhere fungi actually grow: the habitats and conditions to look for in woodland\nThe medicinal properties of common species\, discussed factually (not as medical advice\, see below)\nSustainable\, ethical foraging practices for fungi specifically\nHow to prepare and cook foraged mushrooms over an open fire\, with guidance on any species-specific cooking needs\n\nWhat’s Included\n\nA guided fungi foraging walk led by Bex Northman\, Association of Foragers member\nCampfire cooking of the edible mushrooms found on the day\nA wild\, seasonal feast around the fire\nHot drinks and a warm fire kept going for the whole group\, including anyone waiting for a sauna slot\n\nOptional add-on: Woodland Sauna & Cold Dip\nFrom 5:00pm\, Langley Tracks’ barrel sauna and cold dip are available as an add-on\, £20 per person\, booked alongside your main ticket. Sessions run for up to 30 minutes\, up to 4 people at a time\, and include a mushroom-enriched hot chocolate and a wild-inspired treat. A sign-up sheet for sauna times goes round at the start of the afternoon\, so if you need to leave promptly\, put your name down early for one of the first slots. If you’re not in a rush\, the fire and the kettle stay on for everyone foraging and waiting their turn. \nPractical Details\n\nWrap up warm.
